Over 1,000 Youths In Nakawa Benefit From CDD Funds

60 youth groups of members between 10 to 20 attended a 2 day of Financial literacy training to help mentor them to benefit from the CDD Funds. Nakawa Division Urban Council Speaker Rt Hon. Luyombya Godfrey appealed to all Community Based Organisations(CBO) that received CDD funds to invest money in the proposed businesses to avoid wastage. This was yesterday at the closure of a two-day training workshop held at Nakawa Division Community hall, Youths were equipped with skills in Financial Discipline, Business Management, Teamwork, and stakeholder management. The speaker further requested the 1,200 youths in attendance to appreciate their local council leaders for their efforts in lobbying for more groups, from 30 groups to 60 groups. Recently, the Council approved 60 groups each receiving 5 million through their group’s bank accounts.

Community Driven Development Fund(CDD Fund) was introduced by Government in 2013 as a way of supporting the Local Government Sector Investment Plan(LGSIP) to fight poverty from the grassroots. It mainly supports small income-generating projects and is meant to sustain innovative micro-projects at lower levels Many young people have benefited from this fund however it has been interrupted over the years by Local Government leaders in  Many districts in Uganda.
