After weeks of revealing he was purchasing the luxury vehicle, the Nigerian superstar shared a video of himself testing his Lamborghini Aventador SVJ on his Instagram stories which are estimated to have cost about Sh100,000,000.

While seated inside his posh and lavish purple vehicle, he wore a wide smile on his face as he expressed his joy at adding a new car to the long list of luxury cars he owns.

Other machines in Burna Boy’s fleet of luxury vehicles include a Mercedes-Maybach, Novitec-tuned Lamborghini Urus, Ferrari 458 Italia, Rolls-Royce Dawn convertible, and a Mercedes-AMG G63.

In October 2022, the “Last Last” singer bragged about his competitors when he disclosed that he had made over $100 million in revenue through a post on his socials.

“I can’t talk money with you if you haven’t made $100M this year,” Burna Boy wrote.

Burna had a glorious 2022 as his album ‘Love Damini’ propelled him to global stages and was among the most streamed artists in the continent.

In the leaked audio, Frank Malingumu Gashumba, father to Sheilah Gashumba, is overheard complaining about her conduct in public, tattooing her bum, falling in love with “useless boyfriends” and many other things. This audio leaked yesterday in the evening hours. In the audio, Frank can be heard talking to a one Diana and he was so angry and agitated.

Following the leaking of the audio, Sheilah responded to it in a brief message saying that she is responsible for her own life. She also went on to wish a lovely night for all those perfect parents and children, Something which people interpreted as Sheillah’s message to lash out at all those who think that they are perfect yet they are not.

However, due to pressure from social media, which comes from various people commenting about the leaked audio, Sheilla has been forced to comment further. She says that contrary to the messages in the audio, she talks to her father four times a day.

Sheilla also says that she doesn’t know why an audio that was released in September last year would attract the attention of the public to this level, given that this is old news. She also says that she has only listened to it once, and it was yesterday.

A seemingly bothered Sheilah also said that she meets her dad every after two days and that even yesterday she was with him having lunch. Therefore she has rendered this audio useless which the public should not waste time on. This is Sheila’s full message got from her Twitter handle;

Music has been tagged “an international language”, a cultural instrument often used at festivals, funerals, dances, dinners, parties, weddings, and political rallies.

Poor, as defined by the Cambridge International Dictionary of English, is having little money and/or few possessions. The opposite of the word is rich.

I hope by now you are asking how much is little and how many is few. These words are not as vague and relative as you may think. Let us not grapple with knowing how much money makes one poor or otherwise. This is because, in a very large auditorium lit by a candle at one end, there is no place where one can say it stops being dark and starts being light. But that does not negate the fact that there is a difference between darkness and light.

The fact that we cannot draw a distinct line does not mean there is no obvious difference in the extremes. In our various communities, we know the rich and the poor. So although there are no stipulated parameters for telling affluence from penury, the difference is obvious to everyone.

Since time immemorial, at least from when I was growing up (mind you I`m not some nonagenarian), I have always heard people cry over the fact that things are hard. Those who repose their hopes in governments get disappointed as successive governments fail to fatten their pockets.

Amidst all these difficulties and hardship, a lot of people, including most of those who remonstrate about poverty are building mansions, buying plushy cars, having expensive weddings, and doing all the other greater things you can think of.

It appears no one is satisfied with what they have. Everybody is complaining. Workers are always crying for better working conditions. Today, doctors are on strike, tomorrow is teachers and the list goes on!
Ugandan musicians have almost invariably bemoaned certain maladies in the music industry, adducing as factors that have caused their poverty. They portray the music industry as one that is not lucrative at all. Yes, they say they don`t get royalties, are suffering from payola, and piracy, and are as a result becoming poorer by the day.

So why are more people doing music in spite of the numerous ills in the industry that are supposedly making them poor? Does it mean more musicians want to be poor? Okay, maybe it’s because they have a surfeit of money to splurge on their musical works in exchange for fame. But don`t forget that fame without money is a shame.

Anyone who tells you music is a nonlucrative venture is telling a big lie. Not everybody can make it big in music, as is the case with other fields, but the fact is that a majority of our musicians are rich. Unless one would want to tell me that the mouthwatering endorsement deals, the expensive houses, luxurious cars, and clothes our musicians have are signs of poverty. Some charge as much as 10,000,000 Ug shs for a show. It is true some of them have other businesses but it is also true a majority of them made it solely by doing music.

Ugandan musicians are not being honest with their financial status because they think by so doing the government will have mercy on them and grant their wishes. Superstitious as Africans are, our musicians fear to say they are rich, lest they are bewitched by their enemies. It is possible they also do that to ward off friends and family members who will be coming in for financial help. Or maybe to scare up-and-coming artists from joining the music industry take a portion of their livelihood.

We are all aware of the ramshackle nature of systems and structures in the music and arts industry but you would bear me out that, that is synonymous with some other professions. Even when copyright laws are stringently enforced, payola and piracy are reduced, and huge sums of money are allocated to the creative industry, the well-being of Ugandan musicians will depend on how they plan and manage their lives. As they stock their wardrobes with expensive clothes and spend their monies on drinks, women, and other unnecessary things, they should remember money has wings.

We know they are rich, they should not deceive the public by saying they are poor. No! we won’t accept that lie but the biggest shortcoming is” Inadequate financial literacy”
This is the main thing killing our artists. We have several local examples of musicians who rise from abject poverty and taste gracious characterized by uncontrolled flamboyance and arrogance. These men and women are shocked when money is drained by fake friends and managers. The company they enjoy vanishes once their monetary taps run dry. Some resort to suicide.

Another monster that is dimming the future of our local stars is the lack of support. The government and local fan base are extremely poor to keep musicians at a level where they can compete with their counterparts from Nigeria and South Africa or even our neighbors from Tanzania. The government has also weak policies that lead to piracy and discourage loyalties. This factor leads to low earnings coupled with aping of other African stars and eventually failing economically.

The “Nkuloga” singer who was raised by top musicians such as Jose Chameleone has now established himself as one of the top rising Ugandan musicians currently with also the antics of not putting on his shirt while performing promoting the idea that he uses it as a trick to attract “sugar mummies”.

However, in April this year, Kilooto kicked him out of her house accusing him of practicing witchcraft. She also dragged him to court for trespass and theft.

After being released on bond, Grenade dropped a song dubbed Wewanika’ in which he stung Kilooto in a verse that ‘Wewanika, nakukunya nakwanika dda (You take yourself to be of high class but I washed and hanged you)’.

The ‘Nkuloga’ singer has been in and out of record labels; In May 2020,  he signed with Karma Ivien management but quit in just days and signed with Riddim empire

He also quit Rydim Empire and became a free agent.

As TNS boss, Jeff Kiwa was trying to promote, Rahma Pinky, Grenade recorded a collabo ‘Picha’ with her which ruled the airwaves. He followed it with another hit ‘Babandana’ and also has a new collabo with Jowy Land titled ‘Am Badda’.

Of late Grenade is among the most booked artists and has managed to use his savings to buy a Mercedes Benz. A close friend, however, intimated to us that he did not have enough money to splash on the Benz, so his new catch contributed to him.

For so many years now, the word “socialite” has been a regular in Uganda’s lifestyle Vocabulary. The Oxford English Advanced Learners Dictionary defines the word “socialite” as a person who is well-known in fashionable society and is fond of social activities and Entertainment.

Going by Ugandan standards, we shall describe a socialite as a person who loves very nice things, has lots of money to spend, goes to almost every party, has a very expensive lifestyle with very expensive cars, shows off money in Public, and goes for holidays abroad. We have heard so many socialites in Kampala over the years and these include but are not limited to Mike Ezra, Bad Black, Katsha De Bank, Zari Hassan, King Lawrence, Sylvia Owori, Sue Ochola, Judith Heard, Ivan Ssemwanga, Brian White and so many others.

Characteristics of Typical Ugandan socialites.

Ugandan socialites love to live large, spend money, and show off to all and sundry that they are wealthy. Whenever it is December, the term ‘Abasama’ is widely used in Uganda and is used to describe people coming from outside Uganda mainly to Europe and America, to celebrate Christmas here. Back then before he died, Ivan Ssemwanga would come to Uganda from South Africa and party at Club GUVNOR, giving people an open bar while he and his crew would sip expensive liquor like Johnnie Walker Double Black, Martini, Moet, and so on.

Ugandan socialites love to organize theme Parties where they drink, smoke, and show off to everyone that cares to know that money is not their problem. Zari Hassan together with her late husband Ivan Ssemwanga used to organize a party called The ‘White Party’ where revelers would eat, drink, and smoke anything at a small fee. At The 2014 Edition, they even flew in Tanzanian Superstar Diamond Platinumz. Also, another socialite, Sue Ochola also used to organize a party called ‘Arab Money’ at different clubs in town.

Socialites love to cruise around in very expensive cars. This is a very common trend among them all. It is common to see a socialite cruising in a Porsche Cayenne, a Porsche Panamera, a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon, a BMW X6, AN Aston Martin, an Audi Q6, a Range Rover Sport, etc., and all of them with customized license plates such as JH 1 for Judith Heard, IVAN 5, etc.

Socialites love scandals. Many times we have seen people like Zari with unpaid Bar bills, we have seen Sue Ochola fighting in bars at LA Paris, Mike Ezra was on so many occasions caught issuing bouncing cheques, Brian White has been accused in many sexual scandals, and so on. This leaves many wondering whether these are legitimately rich people or mere scammers.

Socialites in Uganda will attend almost all the big parties in town. This helps them to be noticed and grab media attention. You are sure to catch Judith Heard at ‘Blankets and Whines,’ Zari will always be at the ABRAYANZ FASHION AWARDS, Nyege Nyege, Wine Tasting at Sheraton Hotel, and they will be at all Music festivals, Boat Cruise Parties, etc. They love parties.

Ugandan Socialites love to throw money around, wherever they go. On numerous occasions we have seen people like Bad Black splashing money in bars, at one point Meddie slapped a young man and compensated him with Shs. 500,000 on the spot. They attend Music shows in the VIP sections and sleep in very expensive hotels. Let us look at a few socialites who have ruled Uganda’s Entertainment scene for a long time.

1. MIKE EZRA.
Mike Mulyowa Kato AKA Mike Ezra has been off Uganda’s social scene but he deserves credit because he made a name for himself by living large. A very wealthy businessman who started out as a dancer in the 1990s, Mike Ezra is credited for always supporting the Uganda Cranes team. He was rumored to own a Boeing A380, a fleet of Ferrari Cars, and also wanted to buy the LEEDS FOOTBALL CLUB which played in the English Premier league. In 2010, Mike Ezra displayed a million dollars in cash before journalists in a press conference at Sheraton Hotel just to silence those who said he was running broke. He has since disappeared from Uganda.

2. ZARRI HASSAN. Zarinah Zaitun Hussein Kiriggwajjo is a Ugandan, businesswoman who was born in Jinja. She was brought to the limelight by veteran Radio show host, Rasta Rob MC. A very wealthy woman owning colleges in South Africa, Zari owns many expensive machines like a Range Rover Sport, a fleet of Mercedes Benz cars, a HUMMER, and many others. Unlike many of her counterparts, she

studied cosmetology in London and is still relevant today.

3. IVAN SSEMWANGA
Ivan was an Uganda who worked in South Africa as a businessman. He owned Brooklyn colleges in South Africa together with his wife Zari. He died in 2017.

4. JUDITH HEARD.
She is a Ugandan model, businesswoman, socialite, and Philanthropist. She is always on runways representing Uganda, popping champagnes, and cruising expensive machines like a Bentley, her Audi Q5, and many others, all with customized plates of JH.

5. BAD BLACK.
Shanitah Namuyimbwa AKA Bad Black gained fame in 2011 when she became an overnight Millionaire after defrauding her lover David Greenhalgh of 11 Billion Shillings. A self-confessed prostitute and mother, a Bad black disorganized Kampala by partying daily. She has been linked to Nigerian musicians Mr. Flavour and Rabadaba. In 2012, she was arrested on grounds of fraud and released in 2014. She lives a bit quietly in an apartment in Butabika.

A lot of mystery surrounds the source of their money, whether it is legitimate or not, but what is sure is that they have the money and they love to spend it. Of course many are involved in illegal businesses, selling Gold on the black market, etc., and as many are arrested, other new ones come up, it is only covid that has limited them, but as soon as the economy is fully opened, new socialites will come up. They are sick of hiring singers like that who leave them insolvent, claims Bajjo. They will consequently soon release a document listing the artists to boycott.  He continued by saying that the majority of these singers demand exorbitant fees. When they arrive, they sing karaoke for a short while before leaving, leaving the promoter with unpaid debts.

This is a warning to all parties involved, according to Bajjo Events, not just singers. He mentioned people who own venues and companies that make sound equipment, among others. Bajjo also provided a price list for some of these artists.

“As the president of the National Promoters Association (NPA), I want to state that we are starting a war against musicians who raise their prices to absurd levels. Such people force us out of business while profiting, so we can’t keep working for them. We’ll soon let you know which artists and venues we’re skipping because of their excessive fees. “

For example, someone like David Lutalo or Kenzo should be given 7M instead of the high 15-20M that you can’t recover from them. Bebe Cool goes for 1.5m, Chameleone 5m, Sheebah 5m, Juliana 3m, Mudra 1.5m, Zex Bilangilangi 800k, Pinky 500,000, etc.,” he said.

He claimed that the majority of these artists demand fees even though they are unable to draw a crowd. Additionally, according to Bajjo, these singers have turned away most promoters from doing business. And in his case, it’s the reason he doesn’t bow for any singer.

South African-based socialite, Zari Hassan popularly known as “Zari the Bosslady” is pleading to whoever stole her phone at the recent All-white party to bring it back. She cried out in a trending video on Friday morning as she was setting off from the party.

In the video, Zari Hassan says her golden S-Ultra 20 was stolen and her worry is not the phone since she can even replace it with more than 10 phones of the same type but her worry is about her children’s pictures since memories can not be bought. The phone thief might leak even her private album on social media.

The money-bags socialite is also worried that the thief might access her private photos with her wooer Shakib Cham and pour them onto the internet.

Like any parent of a famous daughter, Frank Gashumba has been doing everything he can for his daughter. He is a single father. Sheilah has frequently experienced bullying from seniors on social media, which can be toxic at times. Her father has consistently defended her, saying that she is faultless.

The most recent criticism Kayz leveled at her concerned how she dressed. Quickly leaping in to defend his daughter, Frank Gashumba. Given that his daughter is superior to him, he instructed Kayz to leave her alone.

The heartbroken father in the audio explained to his friend that although he usually goes out for his daughter, she doesn’t know it. When she obtains money, she fails to invest it and instead spends it on her men.

Sheilah has never respected him or paid attention to him, according to Frank. Because of this, he never regards her with respect. He continued by saying that if Sheilah Gashumba can’t respect her father, he doesn’t see her respecting her husband or anybody else.

“I am a parent, but I have experienced a lot. I had convinced myself that I had improved, but Sheilah has proven me wrong. She will never understand how I helped her get where she is because she is unaware of it. I recall that I used to pay her tuition of $4,000 per year. When she doesn’t recognize that, it breaks my heart” said Frank Gashumba.
