When a person who is not in the medical profession falls sick, he /she follows the Doctor’s guidelines wholeheartedly. However, when it comes to Doctors themselves, they don’t follow these medication guidelines.

A recent study by professors from Massachusetts institute of technology ( MIT ) and Stanford university seeks to explain this trend. Basically speaking, charity begins at home. This implies the doctors should be role-models in following medication guidelines. So why aren’t they doing so ?

As if not enough, even relatives and partners of doctors also take part in this trend .Not following medication guidelines. This continues to raise the aforementioned question, why aren’t they doing so?

The study was conducted in Sweden with basis on over a decade of population -wide data. Over five million people were considered in this study.149,299 were doctors or their close family members.

Astonishingly, the study indicates that 54.4 percent of the time the rest of the population fervently adhered to medication guidelines.Doctors and their families lag by alarming 3.8 percent points behind that.

Looking at the statistics, doctors surely don’t follow their own medication guidelines.This was revealed through looking at a number of prescriptions that were given to the over five million patients.The researchers looked at 63 guidelines in particular.

The study reveals that out of the 63 guidelines employed, doctors and their families followed the guidelines less often in 41 cases . This places the statistical difference at a significant 20 times.

In conclusion, the study reports that doctors possess “superior information about guidelines “ for prescription. They are aware of what works for them. They are able to discern the best possible alternative for an individual different from the alternative for the rest of the society.

Dr Hilderman who acts as the Arts Shadow Minister explained that he purchased the ambulance and handed it over to Mpigi Health sector because he saw it necessary for the health facility to have it.

On top of that, he reasoned that with the several accidents that happen along Masaka road, the health centre needed to have an emergency ambulance since it is the biggest health centre around the region but it is incapacitated.

The “Mazongoto” hit singer went on to promise that he will keep on pushing the government to improve the service provision in the health centre so that the citizens of Masaka can receive the fully required treatment for all their ailments.

Dr Hilderman donated the ambulance during the new year celebrations where he even organized a football gala with over 12 teams taking part in the competition.

“Yesterday I officially handed over an ambulance I purchased to help our Mpigi Health sector. With the Numerous accidents on Masaka road, Mpigi Health centre 4 lacked an emergency ambulance yet it is the biggest health facility around but incapacitated. I pledged to keep requesting the government to uplift the center to a hospital status for a bigger budget allocation.

As Government prepares to wake up to play its role, We thank HILDERMAN FOUNDATION for this new year gift. Dr Hilderman is one of the National Unity Platform members of parliament who have shown that he is really hardworking as he has often tried to lobby for his constituency to live happily and get better service delivery from the government.
