CHAN 2023: Is Uganda Cranes Prepared For For It.

Milutin Sredojevic commonly known to football fans as Micho who coaches Uganda cranes has cropped off a few players from his provisional team that is set to participate in the coming African Nations Championship (CHAN 2023).

Uganda was set to withdraw from this competition earlier in December due to a lack of money from the Ugandan government, but following Moses Magogo’s protests, the government decided to take action, and the national squad is now prepared to travel.

Now initially Micho had 37 players in camp but has trimmed the squad by seven after nine days since the team entered the residential camp.

Some of these players that have been chopped off include Grant Matsiko, Arthur Kiggundu, Filbert Obenchan, Bright Vuni, Hussein Ssenoga, Kagawa Ssenoga, and Cromwell Rwothomio.

The rest of the group will continue with training up to Saturday when the final traveling squad will be named.
On Sunday, 1st January 2023, Uganda Cranes will head to Tunisia for another training camp where friendlies are lined up to fine-tune the players ahead of the tournament that starts on 13th January in Algeria.

It should be noted that only players playing their trade in the domestic league are allowed to play at CHAN 2023.

This will be the sixth time that Uganda will be taking part in the biennial Championship having featured in the 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020 editions.

In this year’s edition, Uganda is pooled in Group B alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, and Ivory Coast.
