Dancehall crew boss Michael Mugwanya alias King Michael has confirmed he will perform at singer Ziza Bafana’s three-day concert dubbed the ”Dancehall Carnival”.
Ziza Bafana’s carnival is scheduled to take place during the Easter weekend and will feature many artists from different nations.
The “Pomini Pomini” singer made a revelation during his live band practice last year as he disclosed that he was warming up for his carnival.
King Michael made the confirmation by saying disclosing that Ziza Bafana sent him an invite which he was glad to receive. He’s apparently ready to show Bafana who the real dancehall emperor in Uganda is.
The “Muko Muko” singer added that after Ziza Bafana’s carnival, he will also him to his own concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval he named “Dancehall Fest” in a bid to promote Dance-hall music which has been on the low.
“Ziza Bafana called me to grace his show and I will be there. He calls himself Dancehall General and I’m the Dancehall King. Basically, there is no much argument on who rules the genre there. After his concert, I want him to come and perform at my Dancehall Fest at Lugogo Cricket Oval. I want to show him and everyone why I’m the king. Besides my Performance will also be top-notch. We are trying to revive the genre as it had slowly faded”, King Michael.
King Michael also said that he’s now more of a versatile artist. He does several genres from reggae to Afropop and Dancehall. The singer however despite having been one of the personalities on people’s lips never had luck.
Having transitioned from DJ at Lido Beach, he became a mainstream artist after a few hits. He tried organizing concerts severally but these would massively flop, which led to his fading.
