The 80th Golden Globe Awards 2023

The 80th Golden Globe Awards were held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. The much-awaited ceremony took place at The Beverley Hilton, Beverley Hills, California, USA. The award’s main aim was to recognize and honor outstanding film and American television of 2022.

The nominations were conducted last month Monday, December 12, 2022. This left the various nominees anxious. Awaiting D-day when they would learn their fate.

During the awarding ceremony, there was a silent dig by the host of the show, Comedian Jerrod Carmichael. Right away from the onset of his speech, he voiced the fact that “he is hosting the Golden Globe because he just so happens to be a Black Comedian “.

Apparently, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association ( HFPA ), the body tasked with choosing and awarding the winners did not have a black member in their group not until 2021 after the death of George Floyd.
