At the beginning of the year, everyone is making and praying over year resolutions, by the time we are in March, most of us would have started to lose hope and direction, and by May we would have completely given up on them.

The challenge is no longer poor planning but failure to execute the plans we set forth, there are two major derailleurs why resolutions fail; Luck of commitment.

When the year has just started, we start working on our goals, and soon we discover how much effort it requires to execute these plans, persistence, fighting, and altering the plan which has widened the gap between the outcome we desire and the effort we ought to invest for these set goals to be achieved, most of us double tap or throw a white towel, while others start settling for less and procrastinating. Proper execution calls for patience and it’s a focused process, while our minds were programmed by lifestyle to expect much with less effort in the shortest period, that’s why betting companies are making a killing in our market today.

The devil called “Busy” because we set so many balls in the air as plans, juggling becomes difficult,  in the end, it becomes more important to throw the ball back in the air in order to receive an incoming than holding the ball this yields destruction, Banyankole has a saying “wakwatira ibiri emwe neyonka” literally meaning if you untie two calves while milking one will steal the milk.

Most of us are busy from Monday to Sunday, waking up early, returning back late, and on phone during all the time but by the weekend accountability of what was achieved is itsy-bitsy. It is prudent to focus on a few resolutions at a time.
