In an upcoming historical event, a former member of parliament (Uganda) who married both of his beloved wives simultaneously will make history.

Godfrey Watenga Nabutanyi, a former Lutseshe County Member of Parliament, will wed his two wives on January 28, 2023, in a dowry-giving ceremony at their home in Bubisikwa lower cell, Ibaale Ward, Kuushu Town Council in Bududa District.

The two wives are named Nanzala Beatrice and Nekesa Christine.

According to a copy of the invitation card that this website has seen, Watenga is oddly sandwiched between his two wives.

Watenga ran for office in the most recent elections but was defeated by current MP Isaac Modoi in the NRM Primaries.

Watenga’s audacious action, which has never been seen in this part of the country or even the entire world, has given him a great chance to win “Man of the Year” after just one week of the new year.

Film has already been made of some of the 11th Parliament’s dramatic moments. Moses Attan, a former Soroti East City Member of Parliament, was sidetracked when his two wives, who had traveled with him, jostled for position to be by the MP’s right side during the swearing-in of the 11th Parliament. Later, the MP apologized in front of the media and said the issue had been resolved at home.

It is important to keep in mind that several incumbents and ministers had their political careers jeopardized in previous National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries.

Following the announcement of the preliminary results, ministers Evelyn Anite (Investment), Elioda Tumwesigye (Technology), Adolf Tumwesigye (Defense), Mary Karooro Okurut (General Duties), Michael Werikhe (Trade), Mwesigwa Rukutana (Labour), and Christopher Kibazanga (Veteran Affairs) considered their options.

Ms. Anite, who lost to Dr. Charles Ayume for the Koboko Municipality seat, which she had held for only one term, by a margin of 768 votes, had already conceded defeat as of the time of publication, ruling out the option of running as an independent.
