Former Butambala County MP Hon. Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi has been released on a UGX 10 million cash bail by the International Crimes Division (ICD) Court after spending nearly six months on remand.
Kivumbi had been in custody over charges related to the alleged post-election unrest in Butambala District. His repeated attempts to secure bail had previously been unsuccessful, keeping him on remand as investigations and court proceedings continued.

In its latest ruling, the ICD Court granted him bail, allowing him to regain his freedom while the case proceeds. Bail does not mean the charges have been dropped; instead, it allows an accused person to remain out of custody on conditions set by the court until the trial is concluded.
Kivumbi is expected to comply with all the bail conditions and continue appearing before court whenever required as the legal process continues.
