Ugandan musician and radio presenter Derrick Ddungu, popularly known as Rickman Manrick, has made a stunning return to competitive football after being unveiled as one of Express FC’s new signings ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.
The 29-year-old, best known for his music career and hit song “Ebango Baliwanika,” is returning to the sport after spending several years away following a serious knee injury.
Rickman began his football journey with Kampala Junior Team (KJT) and Friends of Football (FOF) before moving to Sweden, where he featured for Dalen KFF, Gunnilse IS and Sävedalen IF.
He primarily played as a forward and winger before his football career was disrupted by injury. He subsequently turned his attention to music, releasing several popular songs before venturing into radio as a presenter at 106.5 NRG Radio.
Now, the singer is swapping the microphone for the football pitch once again as he joins seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC.
The 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on August 28, 2026, with Rickman hoping to make his mark on the pitch after years away from competitive football.
