Uganda’s entertainment industry is in deep mourning following the heartbreaking reported death of legendary Afrigo Band singer Moses Matovu.
The music fraternity has been left shattered after news emerged that the veteran musician was reportedly attacked by unknown assailants in the early hours of today as he headed home after a musical performance in the areas of Lubuga, Kibuli.
According to reports, Matovu was confronted by one of the attackers who punched him.
He reportedly lost his balance, fell heavily and hit his head on the pavement, sustaining severe injuries and losing a significant amount of blood. He reportedly died shortly afterwards.
The devastating news was confirmed by his son, Ramadhan Kamoga, plunging the family, friends, fellow musicians and thousands of fans into mourning.
At the time of reporting, Matovu’s body had been taken to the Kibuli Hospital mortuary as his loved ones grappled with the shocking loss.
Moses Matovu was more than just a musician — he was one of the enduring voices of Uganda’s legendary Afrigo Band, entertaining generations and leaving an unforgettable mark on the country’s music scene.
His reported death marks a heartbreaking loss for Uganda’s entertainment industry.
