On Saturday the World witnessed history in the football World as Morocco became the first African Country to progress to the World Cup semi final.Well, in the Literature World history was also made that same day as Annie Ernaux became the first French Woman to receive the Nobel peace prize for literature.

In an event that happened on Saturday 10 December, 2022 , at Oslo City Hall , Norway , a total of 2000 guests were in attendance. The Nobel peace prize awards ceremony resumed meeting physically. The previous two years the awarding ceremony was held digitally/online due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

The 82-year old French Writer Annie Ernaux was honoured by the Swedish Academy for “ the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovered the roots , estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory”.

Annie Ernaux became the first French Woman to receive the Nobel peace prize for literature.

Having started way back in March 1901,the Nobel peace prize aims at awarding individuals who have “ done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations , for the abolition or reduction of standing crimes and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses “.

However,of all the Laureates who attended, Nobel Peace Prize co-winner Ales Bialiatski was not present.Ales is currently a prisoner in Minsk since 2021.His wife represented him at the awards ceremony.
