The year has started off well for the self-styled ‘ African Giant ‘. The news that Burna Boy is among the artists lined up to perform at Coachella 2023, America’s biggest annual music festival was announced Wednesday, January 11 by the organizers via a poster posted on their Twitter account.
The 31-year-old 2021 Best Global Music Album Grammy Award winner is not new to the Festival. His first call to perform at the prestigious festival was way back in 2019. His performance not only showed his worth but also enabled the Coachella festival to gain popularity in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
Burna performing at Coachella 2019 edition
This will be the second edition of the festival after its resumption last year. In 2021 the much anticipated Music Festival was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.2022 was a massive one for South Africa’s Black Coffee and Zambia’s Sampa the Great who by then were among the performers.
The event will happen across two weekends: April 14 – 16 and 21 – 23 at the usual venue, Empire Polo Club in Indio, California in the Coachella Valley. Tickets can be booked as early as January 13, 2023.
The official artists who are going to headline the festival include Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, US Singer, and Songwriter Frank Ocean, and then the famous South Korean girl group is known as the queens of K- Pop – Blackpink.
Headlining Artists for Coachella 2023
It’s no surprise seeing Bad Bunny as the headlining act. Bunny had a successful 2022, breaking records by being the most streamed artist across major Music platforms. He is arguably the biggest pop star in the world today.
In addition, Scottish Singer, DJ, and record producer, Calvin Harris is expected to be a sub headliner at the event. Spanish session Rosalia is also expected to perform among huge other artists.
