Socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan has fired back at critics who claim she simply inherited the wealth and lavish lifestyle she enjoys today, insisting that her empire was built from the ground up.
In a fiery social media rant, Zari appeared fed up with people who continue to attribute her success to inheritance, arguing that she has worked hard to build, manage and expand the legacy she now enjoys.
“I don’t know about inheritance; I’m just managing a legacy that I built from scratch,” Zari said.
The mother of five also hit out at people who judge her success by the luxury they see on social media, arguing that they were not there to witness the humble beginnings and sacrifices that came before the fame and fortune.
“We started in a tiny room, guys. We built from scratch,” she added.
Zari further reminded her critics of the role she played in building the business empire she shared with her late ex-husband, Ivan Ssemwanga, insisting that she was not simply a bystander in his success.
“I was the foundation from day one,” she declared.
According to Zari, her contribution to the empire gives her every right to protect, manage and continue the legacy she helped establish.
Zari and Ssemwanga built a multimillion-dollar business empire before his death in 2017.
Following his passing, Zari continued to establish herself as a prominent entrepreneur and socialite, while maintaining a high-profile public life that has included her much-publicised relationship with Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz.
