Ugandan singer Bebe Cool’s wife, Zuena Kirema, has spilled the tea on why she quietly walked away from music after releasing a handful of songs.
Zuena once tried her luck in the music industry, seemingly taking inspiration from her husband’s successful career. She released songs such as Mata, Owa Boda featuring Eighton, and Rain, but just as fans were getting curious about her musical journey, she disappeared from the scene.
Now, Zuena has revealed that becoming a musician was never really part of her master plan.
During a live TikTok broadcast, the businesswoman disclosed that she ventured into music mostly because she was bored and wanted to experiment with something new. Unlike many assumed, she said she never took the career seriously.
“Someone was saying that they love my songs and I should give them a concert, please no. Some of us did music because we were bored and wanted to try it out. We didn’t take it seriously though,” she said.
And for anyone hoping to see Mrs Bebe Cool back on stage, Zuena has bad news.
She firmly ruled out making a musical comeback, explaining that she simply does not have the energy to deal with the drama that comes with being a public musician.
According to Zuena, the constant cycle of being praised today and attacked tomorrow, coupled with the pressure to perform, entertain and keep up appearances, was simply not for her.
“Those saying my voice was perfect should just let me be. I do not have that energy of jumping around the stage and having people insult you today and praising you the next day,” she said.
Zuena clarified that she is not particularly bothered by people’s opinions about her, but she was unwilling to deal with the endless confrontations and expectations that came with the music business.
“I’m not an emotional person that I mind what people say, but I didn’t have that energy to quarrel with different people, do stunts here and there. I couldn’t handle that,” she added.
So, while fans may still enjoy the few songs Zuena left behind, it appears they shouldn’t hold their breath waiting for a Zuena Kirema concert anytime soon.
For now, the businesswoman seems perfectly comfortable leaving the stage to Bebe Cool while she focuses on her own ventures and family life.
