President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged senior officers from Uganda’s security agencies to remain ideologically grounded, promote Pan-Africanism, and champion wealth creation as key pillars of national development.
The President made the remarks on Friday during a graduation ceremony at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi, where participants completed the Advanced Joint Senior Political Education and Leadership Development Course.
The graduating class comprised 52 officers from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), 10 officers from the Uganda Police Force, and 10 officers from the Uganda Prisons Service.
Museveni emphasized the importance of ideological clarity among security leaders, saying it is essential for safeguarding national unity, promoting strategic leadership, and supporting Uganda’s long-term development goals.

He also encouraged the graduates to actively promote Pan-Africanism, strengthen patriotism, and support government efforts aimed at transforming household incomes through wealth creation initiatives.
The advanced leadership course is designed to align senior officers with Uganda’s national vision while equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to address emerging governance, security, and development challenges.
The latest cohort joins previous graduates of the programme, which continues to play a key role in fostering unity, strategic thinking, and effective leadership across the country’s security institutions.
