Big Eye Breaks Silence on Tooro Succession Saga, Rejects ‘Baby King’

I do not agree with once again having a ‘baby as King’

Apparently, the most trending story in Uganda’s news cycle is the unfolding succession saga surrounding the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 34.

With just a day remaining before his final burial, controversy has erupted over who should succeed the late Omukama and ascend the Tooro throne.

Prince Edward Kijanangoma Rukidi Named New King of Tooro

The succession dispute took a dramatic turn on Wednesday evening when Prince Edward Kijanangoma Rukidi was announced as the new King of Tooro.

However, Queen Mother Best Kemigisa Olimi and Tooro Kingdom authorities rejected the appointment, insisting that the late Omukama Oyo’s 2022 Will had clearly stipulated the line of succession.

According to the Will, the late King’s son was designated as the first in line to inherit the throne. In the event that his son was unable to become King, succession would reportedly pass to his cousin, Prince Komwiswa Yoweri, the son of Musuga Charles Kamurasi Akiiki.

The Will further provides that if Prince Komwiswa Yoweri is also unable to take up the throne, succession would then pass to another cousin, Prince Nyaika Solomon, also a son of Musuga Charles Kamurasi Akiiki.

Amid the heated debate, musician Big Eye StarBoss has also weighed in on the matter, openly stating that he does not support the idea of Tooro having another “baby as King.”

Big Eye argued that installing a young King would once again leave the Kingdom in a situation where it has to wait for him to grow into the responsibilities of the throne before he can make independent decisions and provide full leadership.

“They can choose whoever they want to be the King of Tooro, but personally, I do not agree with once again having a ‘baby as King’. It would take the Kingdom back to the same situation of waiting for him to grow up before he can fully take on the responsibilities and make independent decisions as King.

“I believe Tooro deserves a king who is ready and capable of providing leadership now. This is my personal opinion as Big Eye, and I respect the views of others.”

The succession controversy has now added another layer of public debate to the mourning period, with attention firmly fixed on who will ultimately occupy the Tooro throne following the death of Omukama Oyo.

Singer Big Eye StarBoss says he doesn't back the idea of Tooro Kingdom having a 'baby as King'.
