Ugandan singer Kapa Cat has criticised the current state of the country’s music industry, accusing today’s musicians of lacking creativity and healthy competition.
Speaking during an interview with Galaxy TV, the outspoken singer said the music scene has become predictable, leaving fans with fewer exciting moments compared to previous years.
Kapa Cat agreed with fellow singer Jowy Landa’s recent remarks that Uganda’s music industry is no longer as vibrant as it used to be.
The singer revealed that she has repeatedly challenged several female artists to friendly lyrical battles, saying such competitions would help entertain fans and bring back excitement to the industry.
According to Kapa Cat, many artists have turned down her challenge because they fear competing against her.
“I’ve approached a number of female musicians about having music battles, but they keep saying they’re scared. That’s why the industry has become boring,” she said.
The singer believes increased creativity, competition, and collaboration among artists could help revive Uganda’s entertainment scene.
