Ugandan music duo Kataleya & Kandle have blown the lid off a bizarre BMW saga that left them celebrating what they thought was a major gift, only to discover that the flashy ride was allegedly just a “view once” publicity stunt!
The girls opened up about the shocking incident during an exclusive interview in which they also spilled more tea about their decision to part ways with their former manager, Ray Pan.
The singers were reportedly told that they were heading to the beachside to shoot a challenge for one of their songs. Little did they know that cameras and a surprise were waiting for them.
When they arrived, they were stunned to find a brand-new white BMW, complete with huge bouquets and media teams ready to capture every moment. The excitement was instant.
“We saw the car and we saw the label with our name. We screamed so much because we were excited for the car. We thanked him, drove it around and were with it for like a week,” they said.
For a moment, Kataleya & Kandle believed they had struck gold.
They happily cruised around in the BMW, even as bloggers began questioning the whole affair and suggesting that the expensive ride was nothing more than a publicity stunt. But then came the plot twist.
The BMW allegedly vanished!
The duo said the car disappeared after only a few days, leaving them wondering what had happened to the ride they had been proudly showing off.
When they reportedly started asking questions, the truth allegedly came out—the car was not theirs to keep.
It was, according to the singers, all part of a stunt designed to generate media attention.
“I don’t even think it was a full week with it and it disappeared. When we asked about it, they didn’t tell us anything. It was all about the media. The car was a view once,” they revealed.
What reportedly hurt the duo most was that they had not been informed that the BMW was only part of a publicity campaign.
“We were happy because we worked so hard but it was all for the media. When we asked where the car was, they told us it was a stunt. We also didn’t know and we were hurt. If it was PR, she would have told us something so we know,” they said.
The BMW saga comes at a time when the duo has already parted ways with their former manager, Ray Pan, with the reasons for their split initially left undisclosed.
