The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has with immediate effect suspended all defence and military cooperation with the Republic of Türkiye.
According to a press statement issued by the Acting Director of Defence Public Information, Chris Magezi, the suspension will remain in force until outstanding issues surrounding mutual defence and military cooperation between Uganda and Türkiye are resolved.
The UPDF said the decision affects all defence and military cooperation between the two countries, although the statement did not provide further details about the specific issues behind the suspension.
The statement reads:
