Pastor Aloysius Bujingo’s wife, Susan Makula, has hit back at critics who came after her over her controversial advice to women concerning men who are still renting.
Susan recently stirred up a storm after advising women not to waste their tears on men who have failed to move beyond rented houses, sparking heated reactions, especially from men who accused her of having unrealistic views about relationships, money and home ownership.
The outspoken businesswoman says she is unfazed by the backlash, insisting that she did not make the remarks to please men or seek their approval.
According to Susan, she knows exactly what it means to start from the bottom because she too once lived in a rented house.
She stressed that she understands that not everyone can afford to own a home overnight, revealing that she currently has tenants and even counts people who are still renting among her friends.
“If you’re a woman getting married to a man who is still renting, work towards leaving that and grow,” she said.
Susan explained that her message was never about despising people who rent, but rather challenging women to think beyond their current circumstances and work towards building a better future.
She also turned her attention to the growing number of single mothers, warning against what she described as the normalization of a situation where some men father children before walking away and leaving women to shoulder the responsibility alone.
“It has become a norm and yet it is so wrong,” she said.
According to Susan, the situation has contributed to wasted opportunities and futures for many women and girls.
She urged women to stop leaving their entire future in the hands of their partners, arguing that every woman should take personal responsibility for determining where she wants her life to go.
“No one is going to love your future more than yourself,” she said.
Susan further warned that women should not simply sit back and expect their men to automatically secure their future.
She encouraged women to define the kind of life they want, make deliberate plans and work towards achieving those goals, regardless of whether they are currently renting, struggling financially or still starting out in life.
