Ugandan-South African socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan left some of her birthday guests red-faced after ordering security to eject those who turned up in jeans and T-shirts at her lavish birthday celebration.
The glamorous celebration, held at Marriott Hotel, Nsambya, Kampala, came with a strict dress code, with guests expected to turn up in elegant suits, blazers and other classy outfits.
However, things took an unexpected turn when Zari took the microphone and publicly called out guests who had ignored the dress code.
Making it clear that casual wear was not welcome at her event, Zari instructed her security team to do their job and remove those who had shown up in jeans and T-shirts.
“Jeans and T-shirts, sorry, you’re not my type. Security, please do your job. Thank you very much.”
The order reportedly left some guests embarrassed as those dressed casually were forced to leave the birthday celebration for failing to meet the night’s fashion expectations.
But the dress code was not the only thing Zari had warned her guests about.
Before the celebration, the socialite had also made it clear that TikTokers who were not personally invited should stay away, insisting that her social circle was different from the TikTok community.
“I don’t want TikTokers at my birthday. If you were not invited, please do not come. I don’t want you to be embarrassed. My community and the TikToker community are absolutely different communities,” she said.
