Ugandan gospel singer and pastor Joseph Ngooma delivered one of the biggest gospel concerts in the country’s history on Saturday night after filling the 20,000–30,000-capacity Lugogo Cricket Oval to overflowing, with thousands of worshippers turning up for the highly anticipated event.
The venue was packed to capacity as fans filled every available space, while many others reportedly remained outside after failing to gain entry.
Videos shared on social media captured emotional scenes of concertgoers singing along to Ngooma’s popular songs, including “Gwe Byona” and “Olimulaba,” with many overcome with emotion during the worship experience.
The overwhelming turnout quickly sparked widespread reactions online, with many describing the concert as a landmark moment for Uganda’s gospel music industry.

One VIP attendee summed up the night’s atmosphere, saying: “No artist has ever filled Lugogo like Joseph Ngooma. In VIP we were just carrying each other.”
The sold-out concert cements Ngooma’s status as one of Uganda’s leading gospel musicians, joining a select group of artists who have successfully drawn massive crowds to Lugogo Cricket Oval.Beyond the music, the event reflected Joseph Ngooma’s inspiring journey from humble beginnings in Namalere to becoming one of the country’s most celebrated gospel ministers.
Following the successful concert, Ngooma thanked his supporters for the overwhelming love and announced that he will be heading back to the studio to record new music for his growing fanbase.
