American actor and singer Tyrese Gibson has revealed plans to pursue major investment opportunities in Uganda after meeting President Yoweri Museveni and touring the Africa Coffee Park in Ntungamo.
The Fast & Furious star made the remarks on Thursday during his visit to the coffee facility, where he praised entrepreneur Nelson Tugume for building what he described as a special coffee project with government support.
Gibson said discussions with his Ugandan hosts had produced ambitious ideas that could attract international attention to the country.
“We got some ideas and some of it is going to scare you because we are dreaming big.”
He added that he wants to understand Ugandans and contribute to initiatives that can improve people’s lives, rather than simply visiting the country for publicity.
Gibson also expressed appreciation for President Museveni’s support for Uganda’s coffee industry following their meeting at State House Entebbe earlier this week.
His Uganda itinerary is being supported by Talent Africa Group in partnership with government and tourism stakeholders. He has also participated in the launch of Explore Uganda Coffee Tourism, a campaign promoting Uganda’s coffee culture, tourism and cultural experiences.
The American star is expected to visit the Source of the Nile, participate in a coffee-tree planting activity and interact with coffee farmers in Western Uganda.
