Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo has flagged off ONC coordinators for grassroots mobilisation ahead of the upcoming NRM LC1 elections, assuring them that budget constraints will not derail the office’s activities.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held at Kyambogo on Monday, Namyalo said the ONC remains committed to its mandate of strengthening the National Resistance Movement (NRM), monitoring government programmes, and mobilising support at the grassroots.

She revealed that while the NRM Secretariat received Shs50 billion to support party activities, the ONC was not included in the allocation despite earlier guidance from President Yoweri Museveni that the office should receive funding.

According to Namyalo, she later raised the matter with President Museveni, who explained that the available funds had already been committed but agreed to provide the ONC with additional support, although on a limited scale.

The ONC Manager praised President Museveni for what she described as fatherly leadership, saying he continues to support different organs of the movement.

“I thank the President for always being a father to all of us. Even in difficult circumstances, he listened and found a way to support our work,” Namyalo said.

She maintained that despite financial limitations, the ONC would continue carrying out its responsibilities, including monitoring government projects, overseeing party activities, and providing reports to the NRM National Chairman.

Namyalo urged the newly flagged-off coordinators to prioritise ideological orientation and avoid internal divisions, saying their role is to strengthen the movement and ensure government programmes reach ordinary Ugandans.

She tasked them with working towards victory for NRM candidates in the upcoming LC1 elections, emphasizing that strong village-level structures are key to the party’s continued success.

The ONC Manager also called for accountability in the management of government resources, saying effective monitoring is necessary to ensure public programmes benefit citizens.

Reflecting on her leadership journey, Namyalo said she has faced political obstacles and sabotage but remains focused on serving President Museveni and advancing the NRM agenda.

She added that while she has ambitions for greater responsibilities in the future, her current focus remains executing her assignment effectively.

She concluded by calling on ONC coordinators to remain united, disciplined, and committed as they begin nationwide mobilisation ahead of the LC1 elections.
