Rapper Spyda MC has candidly admitted that he is still battling financial challenges despite the success of his breakout hit, Emikisa.
The rapper described his current financial situation as “just mild,” explaining that while music has earned him fame and public recognition, it has not yet delivered the financial breakthrough he had envisioned.
Spyda MC acknowledged that his music has significantly raised his profile, allowing him to connect with audiences far beyond those he has met in person.
“Music has given me visibility and put me out there. There are people who know me because of my music even though we’ve never met before. It has widened my spaces and how I’m able to position myself,” he said.
Despite the exposure, the singer revealed that he has not made the kind of money he expected from his music career.
He admitted that he had hoped Emikisa would open more lucrative doors, especially in the corporate world, but those opportunities never materialized.
“I thought my hit song Emikisa would create different opportunities for me, but it wasn’t appreciated enough in the corporate world. I’m surprised that fans only know that one song of mine,” he said.
Spyda MC further disclosed that he has released several songs since Emikisa, but many listeners remain unaware of his newer projects.
According to the singer, while some of his recent releases perform well on social media platforms, they have struggled to generate the same impact offline, exposing the gap between online popularity and real-world commercial success.
“You find that these other songs are doing well on social media, but it’s different on the ground,” he added.
