Ugandan musician Acidic Vokoz was reportedly attacked by a group of unidentified men shortly after performing at the Swengere Festival in Jinja, sparking concern among his fans and raising fresh questions about artists’ safety at public events.
A video circulating online according to Celeb Patrol UG, shows a chaotic scene outside the event, with people seen pushing around several white vehicles as members of the Swengere Rescue Team attempted to intervene.
Acidic Vokoz was eventually escorted into a vehicle, which drove away from the scene as the confrontation continued.
The circumstances surrounding the reported attack remain unclear. The identities of the individuals involved, what triggered the confrontation, and whether the singer or anyone else sustained injuries have not yet been established.
The incident has once again put the safety of Ugandan musicians in the spotlight, particularly as artists leave crowded events where tensions can quickly escalate.
It also comes amid renewed concerns over performer safety following a recent attack involving singer Alien Skin, with growing calls for event organisers and security teams to strengthen protection for artists before, during and after performances.
