Prince Edward Kijanangoma Rukidi has been officially named the new Omukama of Tooro Kingdom, succeeding the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who passed away at the age of 34.
The announcement brings an end to the speculation that has surrounded the Tooro throne since the death of King Oyo.
Prince Edward assumes the revered Tooro throne at a pivotal moment for the kingdom, with his predecessor’s burial scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Tooro Royal Tombs.
