Singer Mimi Kampala has finally broken her silence on the swirling romance rumours linking her to fellow musician Kapeke, firmly insisting that the two are nothing more than good friends.
The rumours went into overdrive earlier this year after Mimi and Kapeke teamed up for the “Gundi” remix, with their chemistry both in and outside the studio quickly becoming a hot topic among fans and gossip circles.
Things got even more interesting when Kapeke was repeatedly seen visiting Mimi at her home, where the singer was spotted serving him home-cooked meals.
With cameras capturing the two looking extremely comfortable in each other’s company, some fans were quick to conclude that there was more than friendship between the two musicians.
But Mimi has now laughed off the speculation, insisting that the public simply misread their friendship.
Speaking during an interview with Galaxy TV, Mimi explained that she is naturally social and enjoys welcoming her friends into her home—including Kapeke.
“He is just my good friend. I don’t know why people do not believe this. I have many friends and them not being at my home means they do not just want to. I’m good at inviting people to my place. First of all, my hobby is cooking because I’m a good cook,” she said.
The singer was also asked about her position in Kapeke’s life following his public unveiling of his girlfriend, Priscy Black.
Rather than showing any jealousy, Mimi said she was genuinely happy for the couple, describing Priscy as a good friend whom she also knows personally.
Mimi stressed that she has no involvement whatsoever in their romantic relationship and questioned why she would be bothered by their love life.
“Prisca is a very nice girl and she is even my friend as well. Why would I be angry at them yet it doesn’t concern me?” she said.
