Ugandan rapper Victor Kamenyo has responded to allegations made by his baby mama, Ruth Akoragye, who recently accused him of neglecting their child and failing to fulfill his parental responsibilities.
The accusations surfaced after Akoragye took to social media, claiming the rapper had abandoned his duties as a father. She also alleged that Kamenyo had used her for his own interests before threatening to reveal more details about their troubled relationship if the situation remained unresolved.
Responding to the claims, Kamenyo denied neglecting his child, insisting that he and Akoragye had only recently resolved their differences and were on relatively good terms. As proof, he revealed that some of his personal belongings are still kept at her home.
The rapper explained that the disagreement escalated after Akoragye allegedly demanded UGX 40,000 per day to cover their child’s transport to school.
According to Kamenyo, the daily transport cost amounts to approximately UGX 1.2 million per month and about UGX 3.4 million per school term. When combined with tuition, food, medical expenses, and other necessities, he says the total cost exceeds UGX 9 million per term—an amount he claims is beyond his current financial means.
“She told me when the son makes three years, he starts school, but every day she was asking for Shs 40,000 for Uber and I saw that’s a lot of money because monthly that’s Shs 1.2 million and Shs 3.4 million a term. She insisted on it and I stood as a man and refused,” Kamenyo said.
Despite rejecting the transport costs, the rapper maintained that he has never refused to support his child. He argued that the demands being made are unrealistic given his current financial situation and expressed willingness to continue providing support within his means.
