Dr. Tanga Odoi has explained why he believes a political party should always remain a topic of discussion among its opponents if it wants to stay relevant.
According to him, a party that is no longer being mentioned or challenged by its rivals is gradually losing influence and fading from the political landscape.
“In humanity, if you’re not talked about, then you’re of no consequence. In politics, when your political party is no longer on the lips of the opposition every other day, then that political party is dying. You must work on what they are saying and use it as a springboard to achieve even greater success,” Dr. Tanga Odoi said.
He added that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) continues to dominate political conversations for what he described as the right reasons, before urging Ugandans to participate in the upcoming Local Council elections.
Dr. Tanga Odoi called on voters to turn up in large numbers on to elect Women Council leaders as well as LC1 and LC2 representatives, regardless of their political affiliation, saying the elections mark the foundation of grassroots governance.
He further rallied NRM supporters to mobilize voters behind the party’s candidates, noting that the NRM currently controls about 83.9% of the LC leadership structures.
“Most of our LC leaders have served for 10 years or more. If they have served the people well, then the electorate will vote for them again,” he said.
He also urged opposition parties to conduct their campaigns and participation in accordance with the country’s electoral laws.
