Masaka City Woman MP Justine Nameere has responded to former NTV presenter Faridah Nakazibwe after the latter commented on a fresh defamation dispute involving the legislator.
The exchange has reignited memories of the highly publicized fallout between the two women, who were once close friends before their relationship deteriorated into a bitter legal battle.
The latest controversy stems from allegations made by Masaka-based coffee supplier Cissy Nanyange, who accused Nameere of failing to pay Shs150 million for coffee seedlings allegedly supplied during the election campaign period.
Nameere denied being personally responsible for the alleged debt and opted to pursue legal action against Nanyange over what she described as defamatory claims.
Nakazibwe later weighed in on the matter, advising Nanyange not to be overly worried about the lawsuit while referencing her own past legal dispute with Nameere.
“The supplier doesn’t have to worry much,” Nakazibwe said, recalling that Nameere had once sued her for defamation but allegedly failed to appear for mediation.
In response, Nameere dismissed Nakazibwe’s comments, saying she had no interest in revisiting their old feud.
“I don’t even want to respond to useless talk, especially from that woman. She’s facing karma and has been through a lot. So why bother with someone who the world is already handling,” Nameere said.
The legislator further suggested that Nakazibwe has endured difficult experiences in her personal relationships and insisted she has no time to exchange insults with the former television presenter.
The renewed exchange has brought back memories of their 2018 fallout, when Nameere threatened legal action against Nakazibwe, demanding Shs500 million in damages, a public apology, and legal costs over statements she considered defamatory.
With both women once again trading public remarks, the latest dispute has reopened a chapter many believed had long been closed, thrusting their long-running feud back into the spotlight.
