The Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo alias Chief Muzzukulu has called on Ugandans of all faiths to join a spiritual revival and prayer campaign ahead of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s birthday on September 15, saying the country needs divine guidance amid challenges including poverty, unemployment, drought and deaths.
Hajjat Namyalo said the Office of the National Chairman had dedicated this year’s commemoration to the “Spiritual Revival of Our Fallen Warriors”, which she said would provide an opportunity for Ugandans to reflect on the country’s history, remember those who sacrificed their lives and seek God’s guidance for the future.
According to Chief Muzzukulu, the main commemoration will take place on September 15 at the Office of the NRM National Chairman in Kyambogo, where religious leaders, members of the public, surviving veterans and families of fallen NRA fighters have been invited.
“On September 15, all people will converge at the Office of the NRM National Chairman in Kyambogo to call upon all the fallen and surviving warriors,” Hajjat Namyalo said.
She said the spiritual activities had already begun and would continue for several days leading up to September 15, with prayers intended to seek divine intervention and guidance for the country.
According to Hajjat Namyalo, the decision to dedicate the birthday commemoration to spiritual revival was influenced by what she described as the difficult circumstances facing Uganda, including poverty, unemployment, drought, deaths and other disasters.
She said the country should revisit the history of the National Resistance Army (NRA) and reflect on the sacrifices made by its members during the struggle that brought the National Resistance Movement to power.
“We can’t do without remembering or recalling what we went through before and concentrating on the now. We are supposed to go back to where we started from, how we captured power,” she said.
Hajjat Namyalo also questioned whether the country had adequately honoured the fallen fighters and supported their families, saying some relatives of the deceased warriors continue to face difficulties despite the sacrifices made by their loved ones.
She said the commemoration would remember both fallen and surviving NRA fighters and give their families an opportunity to participate in the spiritual revival.
Among the fallen NRA figures she referenced Fred Rwigyema, Sam Magara, Arthur Kasasira, Nathan Mweinemuzei, David Ndayondi, Robert Kabura, Lauben Ikondere, Paul Kagina, Shaban Kashanku, Enock Mondo, Frank Kifuba, Aziz Bey, Maurice Katungi, Muley Muwanga, Akanga Byaruhanga, Hannington Mugabi, Gen. Elly Tumwine and Col. Jack Mucungu among others, as she called for their memory to remain part of Uganda’s national story.
Namyalo pays tribute to Omukama Oyo
Hajjat Namyalo also paid tribute to the late Omukama of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV, describing his passing as a moment that calls for unity, harmony and reflection among Ugandans.
She called for harmony and peaceful coexistence, urging Ugandans to remain united and to honour the values that bring communities and the country together.
Her tribute to the Omukama formed part of a broader call for spiritual reflection, as she urged Ugandans to look beyond political and social divisions and seek guidance that can strengthen national unity.
