Kalifah AgaNaga Opens Up on Karole Kasita’s Rejection of ‘Nassanga’ Remix

Kalifah AgaNaga, the boss of Bad Character Records, has opened up about why songwriter Dokta Brain recently revealed that Winnie Nwagi’s verse on the “Nassanga“ remix had originally been written for Karole Kasita.

Speaking during a phone interview, AgaNaga explained that Karole Kasita turned down the collaboration because she did not connect with the song’s vibe, describing it as “too local.”

According to the singer, they waited for more than two weeks for Kasita to confirm her participation, but she neither showed up nor answered their calls, despite being a close friend.

Faced with delays and determined to feature a female artist on the remix, AgaNaga decided to approach Winnie Nwagi, who accepted the offer and delivered what he described as an outstanding performance.

“Karole Kasita claimed that the song was too local. We waited for her for over two weeks because the remix was supposed to be released much earlier, but she wasn’t picking our calls. So we decided to choose another artist since I needed a female voice on the ‘Nassanga’ project,” AgaNaga said.

He also disclosed that Chozen Becky was his first choice for the remix, but she politely declined the offer after not feeling the song’s vibe.

AgaNaga said he understood both artists’ decisions because he has been in a similar situation before. He cited how he once turned down an opportunity to feature on Feffe Bussi’s hit song “Nze Alina“ because he did not connect with the track.

“I had initially approached Chozen Becky, but she also turned down the project. They simply didn’t connect with the vibe. I was once invited to feature on ‘Nze Alina,’ and I also declined because I didn’t feel it,” he added.

Despite the early setbacks, the “Nassanga“ remix has gone on to become a success, enjoying massive airplay on mainstream media and strong performance across music streaming platforms, as anticipation continues to build for the upcoming Nassanga Festival.
