Singer Vinka says she is not under pressure to constantly produce hit songs, explaining that her priority is creating quality music that can stand the test of time.
The singer believes while some songs become instant hits, they can quickly fade from the spotlight, whereas well-crafted music can remain relevant and enjoyable for years.
“Sometimes there are hit songs that disappear after one year, and yet there are good songs that are going to be played forever,” Vinka said.
She cited Rema Namakula and Daxx Vibes’ latest collaboration, Onzise, as an example of the kind of music she appreciates.
Vinka described the song as beautiful, noting that some quality songs may not become instant hits but gradually grow on listeners and eventually become timeless.
“I think it’s good to have many good songs than hit songs,” she said, adding that having two quality songs can be just as valuable as having a single major hit.
According to Vinka, an artist’s career should not depend entirely on chart-topping releases.
She believes musicians can build sustainable careers by consistently putting out quality music, even during periods when they do not have a massive hit.
Drawing from her own experience, Vinka revealed that there have been times when she did not have major hits like All Over You and Bailando, but she remained comfortable and continued building her career.
For Vinka, longevity matters more than chasing temporary success, with quality music ultimately being the foundation of a lasting career.
