Ugandan music stars Eddy Kenzo and Joshua Baraka have earned nominations at the 2026 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), reaffirming Uganda’s growing influence on the African music scene.
Joshua Baraka enjoyed one of his biggest international recognitions yet after receiving multiple nominations, including Best Male Artist in Eastern Africa and Most Promising Artist of the Year.
Although Tanzania’s Jux won the Best Male Artist in Eastern Africa award and Nigeria’s Qing Madi walked away with the Most Promising Artist accolade, Baraka’s nominations mark another major milestone in his rapidly rising career.
The “Nana” hitmaker also attended the awards ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria, where he interacted with fellow African artists and industry leaders during one of the continent’s biggest music events.
Veteran singer Eddy Kenzo also secured a nomination at the 2026 AFRIMA awards, extending his long-standing presence at Africa’s premier music awards. Kenzo remains one of Uganda’s most decorated international artists, having received numerous AFRIMA and AFRIMMA nominations and awards throughout his career.
The recognition comes as both artists continue to elevate Uganda’s music industry on the global stage. While Joshua Baraka is establishing himself as one of Africa’s fastest-rising young stars, Eddy Kenzo continues to build on a career that has earned him international acclaim, including a recent Grammy nomination.
