Singer A Pass has broken silence about his absence from Lil Pazo’s much-talked-about Mbarara festival following criticism among fans.
With tongues wagging over why the “Wuuyo” hitmaker promoted Lil Pazo’s concert but failed to turn up for the actual show, A Pass came out guns blazing, insisting that critics got it all wrong because he was never booked to perform at the Mbarara event in the first place.
According to A Pass, promoting a fellow musician’s concert does not automatically mean he has committed himself to performing at the show, and he says he never promised fans that he would be in Mbarara.
“Guys, let me clear this for those who say that I didn’t show up for Lil Pazo’s show in Mbarara. I was not supposed to be there. I promoted for him the concert, but I never said anywhere that I was going to be there. And I was not booked to perform in Mbarara for Lil Pazo’s show,” A Pass said.
The singer went a step further, revealing that he had already been booked for another performance in Kampala on the same night, while hitting back at those who pressure artists to appear at their colleagues’ concerts simply because they are in the same industry.
“I was booked to perform elsewhere in Kampala. So stop putting people under pressure for not performing at fellow artists’ shows. Did you see him at my concert yet it was in Kampala? He must have been busy with his own bookings,” he argued.
A Pass maintained that there was nothing personal about his absence, stressing that the music industry operates on bookings and business arrangements.
“I had to be booked for me to go to Mbarara to perform at his show. That is music business,” he added.
