Swangz Avenue singer Vinka has extended the impact of her Live & Loud concert by donating part of the show’s proceeds to support mothers and children receiving treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
The singer, whose real name is Veronica Nakiyingi Lugya, visited the hospital’s Paediatric Surgery Unit on September 7, where she delivered essential supplies and spent time with families going through difficult medical situations.
The donation came from proceeds of her Vinka Live & Loud concert, held at Lugogo Cricket Oval on August 21. Vinka said she deliberately set aside part of the earnings to support mothers facing complications after childbirth and children born with medical challenges.
Vinka, accompanied by the Swangz Avenue management team, donated items including diapers, baby wipes, maternity pads, blankets, bar soap and Vaseline.

However, the singer said her visit was not only about giving supplies but also about encouraging mothers and families in the ward.
“I just had a concert recently and part of the proceeds from the concert were to support the mothers that get complications after giving birth and the children that have complications after childbirth.”
She admitted that the experience was emotional but praised the strength of the mothers she encountered.
“It’s a bit very emotional but what gives you the strength is the mothers are very strong.”
