Media personality Flavia Tumusiime has opened up about her approach to motherhood, revealing that her greatest measure of success is the relationship she shares with her children rather than the pressure to be a perfect parent.
Speaking on her YouTube channel, Flavia explained that she now values the simple moments she shares with her children, including sitting together, talking freely, playing and enjoying meals as a family.
“The evidence of my success is the fact that my kids and I sit on the same table and we talk. And I don’t feel the pressure to be a perfect Mom,” she said.
Flavia noted that her understanding of good parenting has changed over time. She previously felt that being a good mother required strict routines, organisation and meeting certain expectations associated with perfect parenting.
However, she has since learned to appreciate a more relaxed approach that allows her to listen to her children, joke with them, play and enjoy everyday family moments without feeling compelled to get everything right.
“I know that might sound like nothing to you, but there’s a moment there where talking to my kids meant templates, be organized, be routined… because these are the things that make me a good mom, a perfect mom,” she explained.
“But now I have reduced it to the fact that I can listen to them, we can play, we can joke, we can share a meal.”
Her reflections highlight how her priorities have shifted from meeting expectations of perfect parenting to nurturing a close relationship with her children through everyday interactions.
