Kampala was left in shock after a disturbing video showing a group of teenagers ganging up on and assaulting a fellow teenager surfaced on social media.
The shocking footage quickly spread across social media platforms, with concerned Ugandans calling on the Uganda Police Force to move fast and bring those captured in the video to book.
The force has since confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects, who are currently being detained at Kabalagala Police Station as investigations into the incident continue.
According to police, all the suspects are students in Senior One, with the prime suspect aged 16 years. The other suspects are reportedly aged between 14 and 17 years.
Police said the suspects were rounded up on September 17 and 18, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation carried out in Nakibinge Zone, Kibuli Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala District.
The final arrests were reportedly made at around 2:00 a.m. on September 18, as detectives intensified efforts to track down everyone allegedly involved in the assault.
The development has been welcomed by members of the public, many of whom have praised police for acting swiftly following the circulation of the disturbing footage.
The incident has also reignited concerns over violence and indiscipline among teenagers, with the public calling for firm intervention to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
Police investigations into the assault are still ongoing, with the circumstances surrounding the attack expected to become clearer as the suspects are questioned.
