The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, has called on Ugandans to participate peacefully in the ongoing LC1 elections, urging voters not to be intimidated while exercising their constitutional right.
Speaking ahead of the village polls, Namyalo stressed that every eligible Ugandan has the freedom to vote without fear or interference.
“Nobody should intimidate residents because it is their constitutional right to exercise their right to vote. Go and exercise your right freely,” she said.
Namyalo also revealed that the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) has deployed its district and regional coordinators across the country to mobilise residents to participate in the LC1 elections while monitoring the performance of NRM candidates.
She, however, clarified that the coordinators have not been deployed to interfere with the electoral process or carry out the responsibilities of the Electoral Commission.
“As the Office of the National Chairman, we have deployed our district and regional coordinators to mobilise Ugandans to participate in the elections and monitor our NRM candidates. They are not there to interfere with the electoral process or do the work of the Electoral Commission. Their role is strictly mobilisation and monitoring,” she explained.
Popularly known as Chief Muzzukulu, Namyalo said peaceful, free, and credible LC1 elections are vital for strengthening grassroots democracy and ensuring communities elect leaders capable of delivering government programmes and improving service delivery.
She concluded by urging voters to make informed choices, noting that the leaders elected will serve their communities for the next five years.
“Let us vote for people you will not regret electing for the next five years,” Namyalo urged.
