The Manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), SPA/PA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has pledged continued support to vendors at Nakawa Market, urging them to embrace government programmes aimed at improving household incomes and fighting poverty.
Namyalo made the remarks while officiating the finals of a football tournament organised by Nakawa Market vendors at Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, Kampala.
Addressing thousands of vendors and football fans, the ONC Manager encouraged members of the business community to take advantage of government wealth-creation initiatives, saying President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s renewed term provides another opportunity for Ugandans to transform their livelihoods.
“Getting out of poverty in Museveni’s new kisanja is mandatory,” Hajjat Namyalo stated.
She urged the vendors to remain united and actively participate in programmes designed to promote economic empowerment and community development.
The football tournament, which kicked off late last month, ended with Kasoli FC emerging champions.
Hajjat Namyalo rewarded the winning team with UGX 1 million in cash.
The runners-up, Nyanya FC, received UGX 500,000, while Nyama FC, who finished third, took home UGX 300,000. Cassava vendors were also awarded UGX 200,000.
Namyalo commended the organisers for using sport to promote unity, teamwork and peaceful coexistence among market vendors.
She said such community initiatives not only strengthen relationships among vendors but also provide opportunities for talent development and social engagement.
Namyalo was joined at the event by Minister Minsa Kabanda.
She reaffirmed the ONC’s commitment to supporting grassroots initiatives that empower ordinary Ugandans and complement the government’s broader socio-economic transformation agenda.
The ONC Manager encouraged Nakawa Market vendors to remain focused on improving their businesses and household incomes while taking advantage of government programmes intended to support wealth creation.
