It is a dark and painful day in the Republic of Tanzania following the death of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, the husband of Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Hafidh Ameir Hassan breathed his last on Monday morning while undergoing treatment in Zanzibar.
The announcement was made by Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi, who revealed that Ameir died at around 8:00am at Emilio Memorial Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for a heart condition.

News of his passing has sent a wave of grief across Tanzania, with messages of condolence and comfort pouring in for President Samia and the bereaved family during this difficult period.
Funeral arrangements are currently being coordinated in Zanzibar, with further details expected to be communicated by the family and relevant authorities in due course.
