The Office of the National Chairman (ONC), led by Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and ONC Manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has launched a nationwide seed distribution initiative to support farmers during the planting season.
The exercise began at Maddu Town Council in Gomba District, where Namyalo, popularly known as Chief Muzzukulu, delivered agricultural inputs to farmers amid heavy rainfall.
Addressing local leaders and residents, Namyalo said the political season had ended and urged communities to focus on economic productivity and household development.
“We have finished the election period and now it is time for work,” she said, encouraging farmers to take advantage of the ongoing rains.
The ONC distributed high-yield maize and bean seeds, fertilizers and selected pesticides to support farmers across Maddu’s 19 villages. Namyalo cautioned beneficiaries against misusing the inputs, stressing the importance of turning agricultural support into increased production and household income.
The initiative also attracted calls for expanded support targeting youth and women. Julius Kibirige, the NRM Chairperson for Maddu, appealed for vocational training and equipment, including sewing machines, to help women establish small businesses.
Maddu Town Council Mayor Alali Muhiirwa Kabaleega highlighted youth unemployment and requested practical equipment such as popcorn machines, brickmaking units, salon kits and tailoring tools.
“The political season is now over; it is now time for working,” Mayor Kabaleega said.
In response, Namyalo confirmed that the agricultural distribution programme would be complemented by vocational and enterprise empowerment tools. She said future distributions would include equipment for bricklaying, welding and other technical trades.
