The heartbreaking final journey of legendary Afrigo Band singer Moses Matovu has taken shape, with his family finally revealing when and where the fallen music icon will be laid to rest.
After an emotional clan meeting, Ssalongo Kamoga Mwavu Takwana has announced that Matovu will be buried tomorrow, Friday, September 25, at 4:00 PM in Kyanja.
The announcement has also cleared the air over earlier reports that the legendary singer would be buried today, just hours after news of his tragic death sent shockwaves across Uganda’s entertainment industry.
According to Ssalongo Kamoga, the clan sat down to deliberate on the burial arrangements before agreeing on Friday as the official tentative burial date.
“After the clan meeting, we’ve agreed that the late Moses Matovu will be laid to rest tomorrow (Friday) at 4PM in Kyanja. There were announcements earlier indicating that he was to be laid to rest today, but as the clan, we’ve clarified that,” he said.
FANS MAY GET A CHANCE TO SEE MOSES ONE LAST TIME
As Uganda continues to mourn one of its most celebrated musical legends, plans are also underway to give his fans, fellow musicians and members of the public an opportunity to bid him farewell.
Ssalongo Kamoga revealed that the family has reached an understanding with the Afrigo Band fraternity and other artists to have Matovu’s body taken to the National Theatre for public viewing, although the exact timing is yet to be confirmed.
“We know very well that he was a Muslim, but certain norms change in religion and tribes. We’ve agreed with the Afrigo family and other artists that we take his body to National Theatre for public viewing, but we will inform you either today or tomorrow.”
He added a significant clarification about the final journey, saying that once Matovu’s body is taken to Kyanja, it will not return to Kampala.

MYSTERY SUSPECT STILL ON THE RUN
Meanwhile, questions surrounding the shocking death of the legendary singer continue to deepen as investigations remain underway.
Police have already arrested a female suspect in connection with the alleged murder, while another male suspect remains at large.
Ssalongo Kamoga revealed that information gathered so far indicates that the wanted male suspect was allegedly working with a private security company.
“The information we have so far gathered is that the male suspect who is still at large was working with a private security company. When we apprehend him, we shall give you fresh updates,” he said.
Matovu was allegedly attacked by unknown assailants in the early hours of Thursday, September 24, in Market Zone B, Kibuli, Makindye Division, Kampala.
The veteran musician was rushed to Kibuli Hospital for treatment but tragically succumbed to his injuries, leaving Uganda’s music fraternity and thousands of his fans in deep shock.
Now, as preparations begin for his final farewell, the country waits to give the legendary Moses Matovu the send-off befitting a man whose music became part of Uganda’s cultural history.
