Next Media has confirmed that hackers gained unauthorized access to the social media accounts of NBS Television, Next Radio, and AfroMobile, triggering concern among millions of followers.
In a security notice issued on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the media company revealed that the cyberattack occurred within the previous 12 hours and affected the accounts linked to the three brands.
“Next Media confirms unauthorised access to the NBS, AfroMobile and Next Radio social media accounts within the past 12 hours,” the company said.
According to Next Media, the AfroMobile account has since been recovered, and all unauthorized content posted by the attackers has been removed.
However, at the time of issuing the statement, the NBS Television and Next Radio social media accounts were still under the control of the hackers.
The company emphasized that any content published on the affected accounts during the breach should not be considered official.
“Posts made on these accounts during this period do not represent Next Media,” the statement added.
Next Media has urged the public to ignore suspicious posts, links, or requests for personal information originating from the compromised accounts until full control is restored.
Earlier on Wednesday, users observed unusual activity on the NBS Television X account, including changes to the profile description and other unauthorized modifications. The account has more than two million followers.

The media house says efforts are ongoing to fully regain control of the affected platforms.
